Books and writing by Pegge

I’ve been writing and reading as long as I can remember.

Over a hundred journals line the bookshelves to the right of my ancient oak desk telling stories and lived experiences of love, seeking, lament, happiness, exploring, wrestling, belief, disbelief, grief, transformation, prayer, curiosity—all the human emotions a young girl, a spiritual seeker, a once wife, mother, adventurer, and now wiser woman experiences.

I still favor the kinetic sense in my body of writing morning pages—or any time pages—with an ink pen to paper connection.

Current writing os on my #OpenThePresent blog, and if you’re curious about earlier posts from 2009-2021, visit my Field Notes blog where I wrote about the magic and dismay in everyday life, and often posted the opening essay I wrote for ten years from the quarterly publication Listen: A Seeker’s Resource for Spiritual Direction.

When working as a communications pro from 2011-2022, I shared stories on my KPBSD Field Notes blog if you want to read about K-12 education related topics.

Your Spiritual Garden, Tending to the Presence of God (a six week daily life retreat) and God Any Time Any Place: The many ways college students pray are two books from the years I worked in Catholic campus ministry. Some close-to-the-heart stories can be found in Chicken Soup books. And yes, I once was a ghost writer for the U.S. Catholic bishops (USCCB) in what seems to be a lifetime ago!

Most of my writing is penned by Pegge Erkeneff, and when I was married from 1994-2011, with my married last name of Pegge Bernecker.
